Born 1975 in California/USA.

Michelle Lou received a dual Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in composition and in double bass performance from the University of California, San Diego and a Master of Arts degree in composition, also from UC San Diego. She has spent time studying double bass as a diploma student in Piacenza, Italy at the Conservatorio G. Nicolini and as a Fulbright Fellow and master’s student in composition at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Graz, Austria. Michelle is currently scraping a living in San Francisco freelancing as a bassist.
