Born 1982 in Victoria, BC/Canada.

Michelle Sterling is a writer based out of Boston/USA. She has an MFA from Boston University and has taught creative writing and critical studies at Boston University and The Boston Conservatory. Currently, she is a lecturer of Creative Writing at The University of Hong Kong where she teaches fiction and creative nonfiction. 

Her essays and fiction have appeared in The Baffler, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Bellevue Literary Review, Maisonneuve, LEMON, among other publications, and her writing has been translated into German, Polish and Portuguese.

Writing residencies and fellowships include Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Vermont Studio Center, The Norman Mailer Center, and The Banff Centre for the Arts. She has received awards from the Canada Council for the Arts, Boston University, the Quebec Writers’ Federation, and the Expozine Alternative Press Awards. She was an invited panelist in the Hong Kong International Literary Festival, and is a member of the Asian American Writers’ Workshop.
