Born 1980 in West-Berlin/Germany.
Philip Widmann graduated in visual communication from the University of Fine Arts of Hamburg, Germany and in cultural anthropology from the University of Hamburg. Since 2009 he is a member of the artist-run film laboratory LaborBerlin e.V. His film and video works have been shown in art spaces and film festivals internationally, among them the Wexner Center for the Arts, OH/USA, WRO Biennale Wroclaw, Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), International Film Festival Rotterdam, New York Film Festival, FID Marseille, CPH:DOX und Visions du Réel. Widmann was artist in residence at Akademie Schloss Solitude in 2014.
In 2015, he was artist in residence at Villa Kamogawa, Kyoto/Japan, as well as at the Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology and the Goethe-Institut in Bangalore/India.
Philip Widmann is a fellow in cooperation with MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg.
