Romuald Krężel works in the field of performing arts. He is currently based in Berlin/Germany. He studied acting at Film School Łódź/Poland and choreography and performance at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies of Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen/Germany.

Romuald Krężel creates different forms of contemporary performances, choreographies, and theatre. In his work he focuses on the topic of labor in the field of art and questions the position of contemporary artists in Western society by analyzing the conditions of their work. He is currently focusing on climate change and explores its relation with art and body.

Among others, he collaborated with the following artists: Monica Duncan, Emmilou Rößling, Carolina Mendonça, Markus Öhrn, and Komuna//Warszawa collective among others. His works have been presented at numerous festivals and art institutions in Europe including Performing Arts Festival Berlin; HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Berlin; Hellerau – European Centre for the Arts, Dresden/Germany; Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, Frankfurt/Germany; Kunstverein Frankfurt; Spielart Festival, Munich/Germany; Thèâtre de la Cité internationale, Paris/France; Nowy Teatr, Warsaw/Poland; Malta Festival Poznań, Poznań/Poland; Gdańsk Dance Festival, Gdańsk/Poland.

In 2017, Romuald received the artistic scholarship of Nowy Teatr in Warsaw. In 2018, he was awarded the scholarship Young Poland from the National Centre for Culture in Warsaw.

Romuald Krężel is a fellow in the framework of the »WimmelResearch-Fellowship«, a joint project between Robert Bosch GmbH, Akademie Schloss Solitude, and Wimmelforschung.
