Born 1981 in Karlsruhe/Germany.

From 2001 to 2005 Sophie Ehrmanntraut studied Media Science and Political Science at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum/Germany and from 2005 to 2006 Cultural Management at the Université du Littoral in Dunkerque/France. From 2006 to 2009 she studied European Media Studies at the University of Potsdam, Germany.

In Bochum, Sophie Ehrmanntraut was involved in the planning and organization of the International Video Festival Bochum and she completed an internship at the music editorial department of 3sat in Mainz/Germany. During her studies in France she worked as a foreign language assistant in German for the Goethe Institute Lycée Jean Bart and as a research assistant and tutor at the University of Potsdam. One of the projects she was involved in was the cooperation between the EMW and the Kunstverein NGBK regarding the planning and realization of the exhibition Multitasking – Synchronicity as a cultural practice. She also completed an internship at the culture magazine Lettre International.

Sophie Ehrmanntraut was a fellow of the Graduate School at the Princeton University/USA, in the PhD.-program of the Department of German. For her dissertation project, a discourse analysis of the personal computer, she won a scholarship of the DFG research training group »Visibility and Visual Production: Hybrid Forms of Ikonic Knowledge« at the University of Potsdam.
Sophie Ehrmanntraut is coordination fellow in the art, science & busines program at the Akademie Schloss Solitude from 2014 to 2015, where she will also be in charge of publications.
