Born 1967 in Belo Horizonte/Brazil.

Tamar Guimarães studied art theory at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen/Denmark and fine arts at the Malmö Art Academy, Malmö/Sweden, as well as at Goldsmiths College, University of London, London/UK.

She participated in numerous exhibitions, including the 29th Biennal de São Paulo, São Paulo/Brazil (2010); Watchmen, Liars, Dreamers, Le Plateau, Paris/France (2010); ICI Project 35, Independent Curators International (2010); Bright Morning Star, Kenneth Anger Cycle, Galeria Zé dos Bois, Lisbon/Portugal (2009); Short Film Festival, Oberhausen/Germany (2007); 7th Gwangju Biennale, Gwangju/South Korea (2008); and 3rd Guangzhou Triennial, Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou/China (2008).

Tamar Guimarães was a fellow at the Whitney Independent Study Program, New York City, NY/USA. She is currently teaching fine arts at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
