Born 1962 in Munich. Studied law 1981-84 in Munich and at the University of Oxford. Studied English, German and philosophy in Munich 1984-88, later doctorate degree. Since 1993 freelance writer, also translator and critic.

Grants: Maximilianeum scholarship, Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes (German People´s Student Foundation) and Bayerische Hochbegabtenförderung (Bavarian Sponsorship for Highly Talented) 1981-89; Doctorate scholarship by the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes 1990-91; Literature grant by the city of Munich 1994; Leonce- und Lena-Förderpreis 1995.

Publications: Worked as a literature critic for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and Bavarian TV/Radio (BR). Poems and essays published in the journals “Manuskripte” and “ndl”.
