Vasil Vladimirov is a curator based in Sofia/Bulgaria. His practice moves through exhibition-making, residencies, international programs, community-oriented projects, institution-building, and discursive platforms. He works across the field, from national museums and galleries to independent and experimental spaces, and is drawn to the tensions and exchanges between the two.
In 2024, he curated the Bulgarian Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale with The Neighbours, which received critical acclaim. He has worked at KO-OP Art Space since 2019 and now directs it, focusing on emerging artists, education, publishing, and production. He is also the founder and director of FIG. – Festival for Illustration and Graphics, an international festival dedicated to illustration and graphic arts that hosts practitioners from abroad and is part of Sofia Municipality’s Cultural Calendar.
As a freelance curator, he collaborates with institutions of all scales, including as a guest curator at Structura Gallery and ETC magazine. He holds an MSc in political sociology from the London School of Economics, London/United Kingdom, and a BA in modern history and politics from Royal Holloway, University of London, London.
