Born 1979 in Bucharest.

He studied photography and video at the Art University in Bucharest.

Solo exhibitions include »Swing Me« (Oxford/England and International Center for Contemporary Arts, Bucharest, 2001), the public art project »Framing Huesca« in Huesca/Spain (2002), »Down to Earth« (CIRKUS Gallery, SKC, Belgrade/Serbia, 2003) and »Terrorism« (Sex Trade Gallery, Bucharest, 2005).

Group exhibitions include »11 Young Photographers« (New Gallery, Bucharest, 2001), »Relocation Academy/Shake Society« (Casino Luxembourg, 2004), »On difference #1« (Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart, 2005), »Playing with Terrorism« (MASC Foundation, Vienna, 2005) and »Black Box – Contemporary Romanian Videoart« (House of Arts, Brno/Czech Republic, 2006).

Since 2003 he moderates the »Incepem« e-mailing list (groups.yahoo.com/group/incepem) and has contributed to various Internet magazines (www.dirtpress.com, www.fstopmagazine.com).

From 2001-2002 he participated in the European Voluntary Service in Huesca/Spain. In 2002 Nanca received a fellowship from the MAP Programme (Pépinières euroéennes pour jenues artists) in Paris and 2005 from the quartier21, Museums Quartier in Vienna.

Vlad Nanca is a participant in the exchange program between Akademie Schloss Solitude and »Artist in Residence – Bucharest«.
