Born in Hubei/China, 1957.

After having been sent to work in agriculture for three years as a consuquence of the cultural revolution, he studied at university, then worked as a reader for a poetry magazine.

From 1992 to 1994, he travelled as a writer to England, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

Since 1994, he has been a lecturer for modern Chinese literature and comparative literary studies at the Beijing Institute for Education Sciences.

He has published poetry in China and in England, most recentlyStairway (1991) and Watching (1993); Nightingale in his own time (poetry and reviews) and The Wandering Rocks (Selected poetry) will be published in 1996.
