Zaher Alchihabi is a trained actor and a prospective director. He was born in Aleppo/Syria, has fled from there in the beginning of 2015 and came to the district of Biberach/Germany in July 2015. From 2005 to 2013 he studied economics at the University in Aleppo and subsequently devoted himself to his passion, acting. He studied at the national acting school Aleppo and completed his studies with a performance of the Iraqi Epic of Gilgamesh. In 2013 Zaher Alchihabi applied successfully for the study program film directing at the European University in Damascus/Syria with his short film Selbstgespräch. His dream of studying film directing abruptly ended at then end of 2014 due to the military destruction of parts of the university. His love for the stage helped Zaher Alchihabi through the following physically and mentally strenuous time of the flight.

In Germany, Zaher Alchihabi has already been acting in the production of Mozart’s opera Zaide. Eine Flucht. by the Verein Zuflucht Kultur e.V. in Stuttgart/Germany. In this framework, he has presented a melolog from the opera with great success at different events throughout Germany. The melolog is also presented at events in the Stuttgart area, amongst others at the Theater Pforzheim, Germany. In the next project of Zuflucht Kultur e.V., the opera Idomeneo, Zaher Alchihabi will take part again both as an actor and theater pedagogue.
