The »Hash« is remunerated with 8,000 Euro and is funded by Stiftung Landesband Baden-Württemberg. Juror is curator and artist Marisa Olson.

What is the current project of creatives on the net worlwide? Which topics move them? What are their questions? And which creative answers do they give to the developments in technology, society and internet?

Referring to the hash value in information technology, which is unique for every file and is being used as a test value in data transmission, the »Hash« stands for an outstanding project. The prize is given to one of the Web Residents 2016/2017 from the common project of Akademie Schloss Solitude and ZKM »Web Residencies«.
From virtual reality to artificial intelligence up to surveillance technology – three times a year announcements with varying focus are developed in context with »Web Residencies«. In two years about 550 artists, coders, designers, technologists and researchers submitted ideas. 22 of them were awarded with web residencies.

Arisen were poetic as well as politic, experimental and even utopian works, mostly undecided in between criticism and optimism, reality and fiction. They portray tension of technology and human, intervene in current narration of internet and society or give space to notions of another future. They reflect the role of art and its institutions in the age of the net and digital (re)production.

On the 15th of february »virtual goes real« for the so far only net-based connected community of web residents. The curators and some oft the artists oft he program will come together for an afternoon of short talks, presentations and performances and will introduce the topics and questions of the program in dialogue with an interested public.
