This year, the Klangraum festival gives another »carte blanche« to the fellows of the Akademie. Cellist Séverine Ballon plays solo works for cello by young contemporary composers, including pieces by Alois Zimmermann, James Dillon as well as Enno Poppe (Solitude fellow 2002/2003) and Alex Sigman, who is a 2008 Solitude fellow.

Séverine Ballon (* 1980 in Angers, France) studied at the Hochschule for Music “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin as well as the Musikhochschule Lübeck. In 2004/2005 she was a fellow for the International Ensemble Modern Akademie (Frankfurt) and in 2005/2006 solo cellist of the des Orchestre de Chambre in Toulouse. She performs with ensembles like Klangforum Wien, musikFabrik, Elision, Multilaterale and Ensemble Laborintus. In 2004 she was the winner of the Gioia Del Colle competition for the interpretation of the new music and the Marie-Luise Imbusch Foundation. Ballon is a 2008 Akademie Schloss Solitude fellow.
