Die Philosophischen Bauern
»MANAGING STRUCTURAL BIRD PROBLEMS«
It is not only on the occasion of the 222th anniversary of Der philosophische Bauer  (The philosophical farmer) from Johann Andreas Naumann which led 40 authors to have an ornithologic glance at society. Observation and the observation of observation are linked with the practice of collecting and archiving knowledge. Its management, structures and problems are being brought together here. The visitor will get to know more about the birds’ role then as their seismographic mission is well reported. A cosy reading corner invites everybody to get lost in the overwhelming knowledge about birds and to toast to the bluethroat with a glass of rowanberry schnaps.

»Show you are not afraid«
Show you are not afraid  is a series of interventions in the form of posters, documented by the artist Mikael Mikael through formally reduced photographs. The posters – black on white – quote the former mayor of New York, Rudolph Giuliani, who asked people to show that they are not afraid one day after the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. »Show you’re not afraid. Go to Restaurants. Go shopping!« By omitting the invitation to consume, Mikael Mikael reduces the sentence to its performative core. He puts the posters in places where terrorist attacks happened or where the consequences and/or causes of attacks are evident. In October 2011, the discursive dimension of the series was extended when the israeli activist Or Teppler used the poster to express her solidarity with the egypt blogger Elmahdy and received a broad international feedback from the media. To open up a stage for discussion and formats of reception, Mikael Mikael shows excerpts of the front pages of international newspapers.

Ariane Pauls
»6 × 72/102 BB«
The artist book the fabric of matter. the matter of fabric (2012) includes texts, photos and photograms in which Ariane Pauls deals with the visual structures of storage and archive facilities. In some projects she changes the ordering principles and thereby investigates the texture and structure of specific media. This is also reflected by the overall concept of the book, which consists of ten booklets and will be completedwithin one year.
