From March 11 to April 24, 2016 new works by R. Armstrong, Vladimir Miller and Louis-Philippe Scoufaras are on view at Akademie Schloss Solitude.

One part of R. Armstrong’s installation can only be seen on Tuesday and Saturday from 2 to 4 pm  while the artist is performing in the space.

Wakes and Waking Sings
R. Armstrong

R. Armstrong’s deep connection to literature and history informs a practice encompassing everything from textual works to architecturally immersive audio-video installations. The work Wakes and Waking Sings spans most of the ground floor of Akademie Schloss Solitude. It is in many ways its own ritual/ized journey, within which the boundaries of life and death are confused, complicated, and disrupted. The viewer shifts between observer, mourner, witness, and initiate, destabilized like one at a wake at which the body wakes.

Their Own Devices
Vladimir Miller

Vladimir Miller works as an artist, researcher, and scenographer. His work questions the architectural stability paradigm by using fragility as a building principle. Fluids and the ways in which they merge and mix, penetrate, seep through and enter where they are not supposed to go challenge our ideas of borders and stability and seem to carry with them their own ways of negotiating and producing territories. With the installation Their Own Devices Vladimir Miller shows how their intrusion into architecture questions our concepts of body, conflicts and permanence.

The Trilogy of Terror
Louis-Philippe Scoufaras

In his 3-channel-video installation The Trilogy of Terror Louis-Philippe Scoufaras explores motifs of Greek mythology such as the Greek gods and figures Pan, Narcissus, and Kronos, performed by the French artist and performer Arthur Gillet. The first part of the trilogy Panic was on show at gallery xavierlaboulbenne in Berlin in 2015. The three 90 minute videos contain scenes which are not suitable for children and adolescents. For this reason, the installation is only accessible for adults.

Opening hours: Tue–Fri 10 a.m.–12 p.m. & 14–16 p.m., Sat–Sun 12–16 p.m.
The exhibitions are closed on Friday, March 25th, 2016​
