“left/übrig(geblieben)” is the attempt to concentrate first and foremost on the question “what’s left over?” and to find out how much performativity of which type is required to construct and document the traces of a performance. It’s also an attempt to view the traces found in spaces, on bodies and in memories as their own performance. “left/übrig(geblieben)” was created by Begüm Erciyas at Akademie Schloss Solitude in cooperation with performance artist Anja Bornsek.
Choreography: Begüm Erciyas, Technical assistance: Dogus Bitecik
A coproduction of Szene Salzburg, the Akademie Schloss Solitude and the WorkSpace Brussels.
During her studies of molecular biology and genetics in Ankara, Begüm Erciyas (*1982 in Ankara, Turkey), was led to contemporary dance through an amateur dance group. In Turkey, she was involved in numerous projects as a dancer, choreographer and coordinator, among them as a cofounder and member of the experimental project group [laboratuar] in Istanbul. After her biology studies she studied at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance. Erciyas was an Akademie fellow in 2007/2008.
