The 15th edition of documenta in 2022 will be curated by ruangrupa, an artists’ collective from Jakarta/Indonesia. Their concept for documenta is based on the core values of lumbung (an Indonesian term for a communal rice barn), which include collectivity, sharing of resources and equal distribution. They invite artists, collectives, organizations and institutions to pursue community-oriented and collective practices of sharing, both in the light of upcoming exhibitions and the program leading up to documenta.
Marwa Arsanios, artist, researcher and filmmaker, was a fellow at Akademie Schloss Solitude in 2014. Her works result from a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to research and filmmaking.
One of the participating artists is current Solitude fellow Nino Bulling, illustrator and author of graphic novels. Bulling’s comics are created in collaboration with writers or individually, and are at the interface of reportage and graphic poetry.
The Black Quantum Futurism Collective explores intersections of futurism, creative media, DIY aesthetics and activism in marginalized communities through an alternative temporal lens. Rasheeda Phillips was a 2018 Web Resident and is a 2020/2021 juror for the Digital field of practice. Camae Ayewa aka Moor Mother is also part of »REUSE >> REFUSE«, an audiovisual series in the context of transmediale in collaboration with Akademie Schloss Solitude, which continues until the end of December.
We can’t wait for the exhibitions in Kassel next summer!
Documenta fifteen will be held from June 18 until September 25, 2022 on various sites in Kassel. For further information, please visit www.documenta-fifteen.de.
