Ákos Kormányos was born a Hungarian in 1992 in Senta/Serbia (former Yugoslavia).

Ákos was born with a rare lifelong neurological condition called SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). He completed his primary and secondary education in his home town, when he discovered his passion for natural sciences and represented Hungary at the I-SWEEP Olympiad in the USA in 2011.

He received his BA and MA in psychology from the University of Szeged/Hungary, where he also studied philosophy and aesthetics. He currently works with cancer patients as a psychologist at the Department of Oncology in Szeged, while continuing his postgraduate studies at the University of Essex in the UK.

His first book, Paraván, was published by Forum-FISZ in 2019, followed by his second, Töredezettségmentesítés, in 2021 (also with Forum-FISZ publishers), which charts his experiences as a person who lives with physical disability. His third book, Légzéstechniká, was published in 2022.

He was awarded the Péter Horváth Literary Grant in 2021, which is linked to a stay at the Akademie Schloss Solitude.
