Born 1984 in Thessaloniki/Greece.

Alkistis Thomidou lives and works in Berlin/Germany, trying to explore different scales of the built environment, both by research and design in western and non-western contexts, investigating alternative living models and new forms of development in the transforming European and global context. She studied architecture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and holds a master’s degree in urban design from the ETH Zurich, Switzerland.

She has completed a number of courses at the Technische Universität Berlin and architecture workshops in Europe and Brazil. During the last ten years she has worked in several architectural offices, among others fatkoehl architekten, sauerbruch hutton and Uberbau. She currently works as assistant professor at the Institute for Sustainable Urbanism at the Technische Universität Braunschweig/Germany.

She has won a number of architecture competitions, such as first prize at »Charitos Square, Rhodos, Greece« (2016), third prize of the Rethink Athens project (2013), and has participated in numerous exhibitions, among others Festival of Future Nows, Berlin (2014), Jan Meda – Großes Feld, Addis Ababa/Ethiopia (2012), and Favela Exchange, Rio de Janeiro/Brasil (2012). In 2013 she was granted a scholarship from the Institut für Raumexperimente at Universität der Künste Berlin.
