Born 1977 in Dublin.

He studied composition with Kevin Volans (private studies since 1999), at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester (with Anthony Gilbert) and at the Royal Conservatory, The Hague/Netherlands (with Louis Andriessen). In 2003, he completed his Ph.D. in composition at the University of York.

His works have been performed by international orchestras, including the RTE Concert Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, the BBC Singers, the Hilliard Ensemble, Ives Ensemble, the National Chamber Choir of Ireland, Crash Ensemble and Orkest de Ereprijs and Orkest de Volharding and performed at numerous major festivals such as Huddersfield, Gaudeamus, Ultraschall and ISCM World New Music Festival.

Awards include the first prize in the 2001 Opera Prima Europa competition and the 2002 Prize at the Eighth International Young Composers Meeting in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands.
