Born 1976 in Cherson/USSR.

Between 2003 and 2008, Andriy May studied stage direction at the Kiev National I. K. Karpenko-Kary Theatre, Cinema and Television University. After that he continued with his masters which he finished in 2011.

In 2008, he founded the Meyerhold Zentrum in Cherson and the theatrical festival Luyj/Fevral. Between 2010 and 2012 he taught acting and stage direction at National University for Theatre, Cinema and Television in Kiev. He is the founder of Zentrum für neue ukrainische Dramaturgie/TEKST (2011) and the dramatic festival »Die Woche aktueller Stücke« (2011). Since 2012 he has been curating the international theater festival Document and between 2013 and 2016 he was the director of the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater.

Since 2002 he has been part of 35 productions in different theaters in the Ukraine and Russia and participated in over 20 festivals.

Andriy May is a fellow in cooperation with Staatstheater Stuttgart.
