Austin Larkin is a composer and sound artist from Seattle/USA. Larkin studied karawitan at ISI Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from 2017 to 2018 through the Darmasiswa Fellowship. In 2019, he began his Window series, in which he performs the violin continuously for two hours at sunset in liminal locations. In 2020, he staged a seven-day performance/installation at Rhizome in Washington/USA. Since 2019, he has organized experimental concerts in marginal and underground spaces throughout New Haven/USA and Hartford/USA.

Since 2022, he has worked on the design/fabrication of acoustic dual-tone sirens and continuously ringing bells – a form of composition in which the material, temporal, and spatial principles of the music are present in the instruments themselves.

He has performed at institutions such as Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca, Oaxaca/Mexico; Frye Art Museum, Seattle/USA; Emily Harvey Foundation, New York City/USA; Experimental Intermedia, New York City/USA; and the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford/USA, as well as in underground spaces throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. His writing has been published by Lateral Addition and Flat Journal. Larkin’s solo recordings include Melody enmeshes itself with the passing clouds (2025) and Violin Liquid Phases (2022).
