automatonomy.net is a collective consisting of Tomáš Javůrek and Andreas Gajdošík. Combining artistic research and programming, their collaborative practice critically engages with digital technologies and explores practical alternatives to established technological systems.

Tomáš Javůrek (aka Tomas Zato) is an artist, programmer, academic, and curator whose practice explores digital media, big data, artificial intelligence, and online environments. He received his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic in 2023. During his time there, he was the principal investigator of datatata.info, an artistic research project examining the relationship between big data and visual art. Until 2025, he worked as an assistant professor at the Department of Photography at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology. He has also taught at the Department of Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava/Slovakia and works as an independent book publisher.

Andreas Gajdošík is a Czech new media artist whose practice combines programming, interventions, and performance, with a focus on useful art and socially engaged projects. His work engages with topics including digital sovereignty, decentralized media, ethical and open-source software, sustainability, and veganism. He teaches at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology. In 2019, he received the Jindřich Chalupecký Award, followed by the Josef Hlávka Award for young academics in 2021.
