Born in New York/USA in 1986.

Cammisa Buerhaus is a writer and performer who collaborates with playwrights, filmmakers and musicians to realize narratives both linear and abstract. She received an MFA in music/sound from Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts Bard College, New York/USA (2017), and a BA in media studies from New School University, New York (2014).

She has performed and exhibited extensively at venues and institutions including Culturgest, Lisbon/Portugal (2018), HYLE, Athens/Greece (2016), Jimei x Arles, Xiamen/China (2016), The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (2015) and Kunsthalle Basel/Switzerland (2014). Buerhaus is developing a web series Who Are the Dora, Doris with director Ghislaine Del Rais and stars in the film The Sanbox Has No Limits by Alex Zandi (2020). She runs her own imprint Wild Flesh Productions, most recently producing an LP compilation of music made by visual artists, Wild Flesh Presents: Various Artists (2019).

During her residency at Akademie Schloss Solitude she will focus on expanding her new play, the dramatic musical Optimistic Voices, developed in collaboration with dramatist Alex Fleming.
