Danilo Prnjat studied at Academy of Fine Arts, University of Novi Sad/Serbia and finished the interdisciplinary master studies – Theory of Arts and Media at University of Arts in Belgrade. He lives and works in Belgrade.

Prnjat intervenes in the local political reality domain by performing controversial and sometimes legally problematic actions and manipulations for expressing certain social problems. In his work he intrudes into activism as a guerrilla or a hacker bursting into the system and attacking it from inside.

Thematically, Prnjat’s performances deal with phenomena such as identity and »otherness«, patriarchal society taboos and discrimination against »socially unacceptable« identities, the influence of the capitalist system on identity, as well as the interdependence of capitalism, mass media and nationalism.

Among others, his artworks have recently been presented at: FRIEZE ART FAIR, London/Great Britain (2009); Art Today Association – Center for Contemporary Art, Plovdiv/Bulgaria (2009); Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin/Germany (2009); Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid/Spain (2009); Futura – Center for Contemporary Art, Prague/Czech Republic (2009); Centre Pompidou, Paris/France (2008); Association for Contemporary Art, Graz/Austria (2008); ARTIST – CITIZEN, 49.
