Born 1956 in Hamburg.

Educated as a carpenter and restorer of furniture. Afterwards studied art history and comparative literature at the University of Stuttgart. Ph.d. in art history at the Martin-Luther-University in Halle-Wittenberg. Works as an art historian, journalist and translator.

Recent project: “Elements for a theory in World art”.

Various essays about painting, crafts and the style of living in the 16th and 17th century. Journalistic articles on contemporary art, architecture and music. His dissertation about “Italian painting before Giotto: mural painting and history of the region Matera (Apulia/Italy) up to the mid 1450s” will soon be published.

Research fellowship of the Bibliotheca Hertziana of the Max-Planck-Society (Rome, 2001).
