Pianist, born 1976 in Freiburg im Breisgau, living currently by the sea.

Elmar Schrammel maneuvers through the wide field of the solo piano repertoire with seminal compositions and is dedicated to works from the 20th century to (world) premieres of new music. A central focus of his repertoire is Stockhausen’s epic work »Klavierstück X«. He brings works and the public together with commented concerts.

From 1995-99 studies at the Musikhochschule Freiburg with James Avery (pianist at the Ensemble of the Institut für Neue Musik) and analysis seminars with Cornelius Schwehr. From 2000 to 2003 studies at the University of Arts Berlin with Martin Hughes. 2005 Konzertreife Neue Musik with Honors from the Hochschule für Musik Saar with Yukiko Sugawara and Stefan Litwin.

Participation in courses with, amongst others, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Herbert Henck, Christoph Keller.

1998 Culture prize of the city of Emmendingen. 2005/2006 Fellowship from the Ensemble Modern Frankfurt.

He has performed concerts for numerous festivals and series such as Rendez-vous musique nouvelle Forbach, MaerzMusik Berlin, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, ISCM World New Music Festival both as a solo performer and with ensembles such as the Pellegrini-Quartett and the Ensemble SurPlus.
