Frances Breden

Born on Halloween 1993 in Vancouver/Canada.

Frances Breden is a curator and artist from Vancouver. She studied Interactive Art and Technology at Simon Fraser University (B.A., 2017) before moving to Berlin, Germany, where she studied Art in Context at Berlin University of the Arts (M.A., 2024).

A central focus of Breden’s curatorial practice is making visible and engaging emotionally with the role of the internet, its platform economies such as TikTok and Instagram, and its physical infrastructures in shaping our economic, artistic, and spiritual lives. This focus is reflected, among other projects, in the exhibition Clouddomination by Arvin Arta at Galerie im Turm in Berlin (2026), curated by Breden.

Another key aspect of her practice is a critical engagement with New Age magic, esotericism, and the figure of the witch in feminist online discourse and contemporary art. These concerns are explored in the group exhibitions HOLEY MAGIC* (2025) and COSMIC GIRLBOSS (2026), both curated by Breden.

Intersectional accessibility is also a central concern of her work. Breden collaborates with artists to develop accessible film screenings and presentation formats. These include Between Memory and Hope – The Sign Language of Kafr Qasim with Meyad Sarsour Ndaye (2025) and the series PRESENTS with RA Walden at HAU Berlin (2023).
