Frauke Aulbert specializes with a vocal range of four octaves on New Music, improvisation and experimental vocal techniques. After her classical education she now studies and sings various styles such as gamelan, jazz, Dhrupad, beatboxing, overtone and undertone singing as well as multiphonics. She fathoms the sonic possibilities of her voice, exceeding limits in order to incorporate these sounds into current vocal music.

She was part of improvisations and performances all over Europe, the USA, Korea, Australia, Brazil, Georgia and Tunis/Tunisia. Frauke Aulbert also performs with music specifically composed for her and participated in festivals such as Festival Precene, Paris/France, Warsaw Autumn – International Festival of Contemporary Music, Poland, International Summer Course for New Music Darmstadt, Germany, Casa Scelsi, Rome/Italy, and Deutsche Oper Berlin, Germany.
 
She is co-founder and artistic co-director of Decoder-Ensemble in Hamburg/Germany, Collect/Project in Chigaco, IL/USA, and of Forum Neue Vokalmusik in Hanover/Germany. She received various awards and scholarships, such as artist-in-residency programs at the Goethe-Institut in Rome/Italy and at Cité des Arts in Paris, and received the first prize of the Stockhausen-Stiftung in 2009.
