Herbert Stattler. Born 1966 in Vienna.

He studied at the College for Interior Design and Furnishings (Kolleg für Innenausbau und Möbelbau) in Mödling, architecture studies at the Technical University of Vienna and at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. From 2002-2004 he was an assistent at the Institute for Creative Design (Lehrstuhl Künstlerische Gestaltung) at the Technical University of Vienna.

Collaboration with Judith Augustinovic as independent architects, foundation of as_architecture; numerous projectes realized, including „can’t tin“ – remodelling of a company cafeteria in Hall/Austria (2000); design of media furniture for the zoomlab, Childrens Museum in the Museumsquartier Wien (2001); „Informationswärme“, interior design for the Künstlerhaus Wien (2001).

Selected installations and exhibition participations: „den fuß in der tür“, Künstlerhaus Wien (2000); „antinonymus“, Künstlerhaus Galerie Wien (2002); „Moving Territories. Kunst – Öffentlichkeit – Neue Medien“, Akademie Schloss Solitude/Merz Akademie, Stuttgart (2003); „Sinne und Sinnlichkeit“, Collegium Hungaricum, Berlin(2003); „skin“, Theaterhaus, Stuttgart and Opera de Lille, Lille/France (2004).

Stattler was awarded numerous prizes and fellowships, including a study fellowship for the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor/USA; honorary prize for “experimental tendencies in architecture” from the Federal Chancellery of the Austrian Republic (2000); Margarethe Schütte-Lihotzky project scholarship of the Austrian Federal Chancellery (2001); Joseph Binder Award „spatial design“ (2003).
