Born 1974 in Vienna/Austria.

Ines Birkhan studied sculpture at the University of Applied Arts Vienna from 1996 to 1998 and from 1998 to 2003 dance and choreography at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam/Netherlands. Since four years she has also been creating texts. She works as a dancer and choreographer and as a writer.

Since 2001 Ines Birkhan has been co-director of the dance company »Real Dance Super Sentai« together with Bertram Dhellemmes. »Real Dance Super Sentai« produces dance performances, films and trans-media work. Projects (selection): »Die Welt als wilde Vorstellung« [The world as wild representation], dance and music performance, Schloss Bröllin/Germany (2008); curator of the instant composition series »In Girum…«, Dock 11, Berlin (2008); »Schmetterlinge, Sex und Hypochondrie« [Butterflies, sex and hypochondria], dance performance, Fabricadance in France, Dock 11 in Berlin, bains::connective in Brussels/Belgium (2007); »den kreisrunden Todengwalzer tanzen« [Dancing the circular Todeng-waltz], dance, text and music performance, WUK cultural center in Vienna and Dock 11 in Berlin (2007).

In 2007, Ines Birkhan published the short story den kreisrunden Todengwalzer tanzen at Peter Lang Verlag in Vienna and in 2009 the novel Chrysalis at Praesens Verlag in Vienna.

She received the DanceWEB fellowship of the city of Vienna in 2000.

At the Akademie Schloss Solitude, Ines Birkhan works together with the visual artist, video maker and musician Bertram Dhellemmes on the project »Angel Meat«. Birkhan and Dhellemmes live and work in Berlin.
