Born 1978 in Sfântu Gheorghe/Romania.

István Csákány lives in Budapest/Hungary and works as an artist in the fields of sculpting and installation art.

His works have been displayed amongst others at dOCUMENTA 13 in Kassel/Germany (2012), in Ludwig Múzeum – Museum of Contemporary Art in Budapest (2010) and at Prague Biennale (2007). In 2010 István Csákány was awarded with the AICA-Price for the best piece of art and in 2008 he won the FKSE–Price as best young artist. His works are part of the collections at Ludwig Múzeum in Budapest and Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean (MUDAM) in Luxembourg.

He received various fellowships such as at ATELIERFRANKFURT, Frankfurt am Main/Germany in 2010 or at MeetFactory in Prague/Czech Republic in 2008.
