Born 1988 in Bautzen/Germany.

Julia Eckert studied cultural studies and political studies at the Universität Leipzig, Germany and at Université Lumière Lyon II, France. Since 2015 she is enrolled in the further education master’s program Kulturen des Kuratorischen (»cultures of the curatorial«) at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig.

Since 2015 she is co-founder and chairman of interaction Leipzig e.V., which in cooperation with cultural institutions in Leipzig develops various forms of events to bring together urban communities and refugees. In her curatorial works she focuses on social transformation processes and the construction of identity. In 2015 she worked as a guest lecturer for the seminar intercultural competence in practice at the Universität Leipzig. Since 2014 she further works as a free curator, cultural scientist, and culture manager for institutions such as, amongst others, Kulturstiftung des Bundes in the course of the program Fellowship Internationales Museum in 2014.
