Born 1962 in Sapporo, Hokkaido.

He completed his BA in Japanese Literature at the Hosei University in Tokyo in 1983.

1988 to 1997 work as editorial staff, then advertising and editorial director at the „Shoten Kenchiku“, a magazine specialized on shop design and architecture. From 1998-2003 he worked as the editor in chief of the design and lifestyle magazine „Living Design“. Work as editor in chief of the magazine “Luca“ since 2003, a magazine specialized on art and lifestyle for women.

Next to his editorial activities, Kazuo Hashiba has completed several artistic projects.: 2000 he produced a documentary film on the exhibition „Italia e Giappone; design come stile di vita“ forr Nihon Keizai Shinbun, Inc. and produced the exhibition „Products 1999“ (on view at the Living Design Center, Tokyo). In 1997 he helped produce the exhibition „Diseno Japones“ (Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Santiago, Chile) commemorating the 100th anniversary of friendship between Japan and Chile.
