Born in Soveto, Johannesburg, in 1965.

In 1990, the Congress of South African Writers published Rampolokeng’s first book (Horns for Hondo), presenting the writer as a culture activist from Soveto: “In his school days he learned how to get caught in prison.

Then, he worked in the administration of some broken-down company in Johannesbur, until he was fired.

As an oral poet, he performed at numerous events in South Africa and abroad. Several literary magazines published his poetry and rap lyrics.”

Lesego Rampolokeng has been invited to Europe several times in the past years; In 1995, he wrote “Faustus in Africa” for the Handspring Puppet Company, Johannesburg.
