Born 1983 in Berlin/Germany.

Luca Hillen grew up in Hamburg/Germany and Munich/Germany. He started studying photo-journalism in Wales/Great Britain, and founded an art collective called coca braun which is also a publishing house for the fine art magazine PINGO. In 2008, he moved to Amsterdam/Netherlands to study photography and fine art at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. After graduating in 2011, he began studying mime at the theater-school Amsterdam where he got his diploma in 2015.

For the upcoming half-year, Luca Hillen joined the art-fair Biennale 2015 in Venice/Italy performing poems from July until the end of November. This was followed by another six month lasting performance at the central station in Utrecht/Netherlands. Since then, he has been busy with developing choreographies mainly in Amsterdam.

His ambitions are photography, film, theatre (acting and choreographing), writing and playing music. Noticeable collaborations resulted in productions with Nicole Beutler, Sander Breure & Witte van Hulzen, Marcelo Evelin, Christof Loy, Alexandra Bachzetsis and Olivier Py.

He received several fellowships, among others, he was a fellow of the residency program PACT Zollverein in Essen/Germany. Among his recent performances are: a journey into ☁ , performed at Goldberg Galerie in Munich in 2017, or the performance misericordia, performed at Oude Kerk in Amsterdam in 2016.
