Maik Priebe studied directing at Hochschule für Schauspielkunst »Ernst Busch« in Berlin/Germany. Amongst others he met Martin Meltke, Peter Zadek and Christoph Marthaler and directed at Staatstheater Kassel, Germany, at Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar, Germany, at Neues Theater Halle, Germany, and at Burgtheater Wien, Austria.

He received the Günther-Rühle-Preis for his production Sallinger by Bernard Marie Koltés. For Blick zurück im Zorn by John Osborne at Staatstheater Kassel he was awarded the Kurt-Hübner-Preis for young directors of Deutsche Akademie der Darstellenden Künste. For Kaspar Häuser Meer by Felicia Zeller produced at Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar he was mentioned in the category »Inszenierung des Jahres« (staging of the year) by the critics’ survey of Deutsche Bühne.
