Marianthi Papalexandri–Alexandri studied musicology and composition at the University of California, San Diego, CA/USA, at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna/Austria, and at the University of London, London/UK. Besides composing, she creates sound installations for sound objects, cooperating with the artist Pe Lang.

Her work has been performed by Klangforum Wien, ensemble mosaik, ensemble SurPlus, QNG, Orkest de Volharding, and the London Improvisers Orchestra.

Marianthi Papalexandri–Alexandri received numerous awards and fellowships, including the Dan David Prize, impuls award, Stipendienpreis der Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Kurt Weill Prize, EMS residency, and the Robert J. Erickson Scholarship.
