Mohammad Ohadi Haery

Born 1990 in Tehran/Iran.

Mohammad Ohadi Heary is a writer, critic, theater director, researcher of philosophy, phenomenology and German literature, German translator, and storyteller.

He holds a PhD in Art Studies from Azad University (Tehran). Prior to his doctoral studies, he earned a Master’s degree in Dramatic Literature from Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, where he completed his thesis entitled A Phenomenological Analysis of Dramatic Literature Texts Based on Edmund Husserl’s Theory of Phenomenological Reduction (2021). He also received a Master’s degree in Philosophy from Shahid Beheshti University, Tajrish/Iran, and from Mofid University, Qom/Iran.

Ohadi Haery has worked as a theater director, writer, and dramatic producer. In 2017, he founded the Chaos Group, an artistic collective which he still leads today. He has also been active as a researcher and translator since 2021. He has published criticism and cultural commentary on various subjects including cinema, theater and literature in newspapers (Shargh and Aftab Yazd, among others), as well as in magazines such as Dibache, Donyaye Tasvir, 24, Cinema Review, and Namayesh Shenakht. Between 2019 and 2023, he served as head of research at the Da Institute.

His publications include the research and Persian translation of Heinrich von Kleist’s Prinz Friedrich von Homburg (2022). He has also translated Robert Musil’s Der Mann ohne Eigenschaften, which is forthcoming. Additionally, he is the author of several plays currently awaiting publication and has published articles on philosophy, theater, and phenomenology.

His work has received numerous awards and honorable mentions. Among these are selection for the 41st Iran Book of the Year Award (2023), a mention in the translation category of the 10th Best Works of Iranian Dramatic Literature Award (2023), and several awards at the 23rd International Iranian University Theater Festival, Tehran (2021) for translation, research, directing, and playwriting. He has also been recognized for his work at the International Puppet Theater Festival Mobarak, Tehran (2021), the Akbar Radi Theater Festival, Tehran (2020), the Mariwan International Street Theater Festival, Mariwan/Iran (2019), and the Festival of Tajrobeh Theater, Tehran, where he received the Abbas Nalbandian Award in 2018.
