Writing and editing is central to his published and film work, inquiring into queer histories and the contemporary economy of the image. Not as novelty subjects in themselves, but as forms of knowledge integral to questioning histories of perceived liberation.

Padraig Robinson published his book 6 – 9: Notes from the archive of Dan Kane in 2016 and is a contributor to the twelfth edition of the annual publication Caderno_Sesc Videobrazil 12, São Paulo in 2017. In 2016 he received a Visual Arts Bursary Award from The Arts Council of Ireland and has received regular research funding from Kildare County Council Arts Service.

Forthcoming work includes a book to be published by Metaflux Publishing, devised as a supplement to a photocopy of a photograph located in the Irish Queer Archive, National Library of Ireland.
