Born 1979 in Carangola/Brazil.

Ricardo Portilho studied social communication at UFMG and graphic design at UEMG, Belo Horizonte/Brazil. In 2008 he completed his master studies at the Sandberg Instituut, Amsterdam/The Netherlands. His research projects take the language of graphic design as a starting point to deal with reality, and to produce work that can take form in diverse media and contexts. Since 2009 he has been working as a teacher and tutor of academic projects at the Design School of Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais. He has been running his own practice in design for diverse clients since 2008. He is an associate member of Jardim Canadá Center of Art, a residency center in the Belo Horizonte area. His works were exhibited at amongst others Cidade Gráfica, Itaú Cultural, São Paulo/Brazil (2014) and 10th Brazilian Graphic Design Biennal (2013). His work was published in the anthology Masters of Rietveld: 10 years of dutch design education (2008).
