Born in 1983 in Tonekabon/Iran.

Sarvenaz Mostofey is a sound artist and composer based in Tehran. Her work practice includes multiple media formats and approaches the audience through art, sound and music. Her projects incorporate space as an active attribute in the process of creating art, exploring interconnections between modes of sonic attention and concepts of space.

She started her artistic activities with photography at an early age and later she worked in a couple of feature films both as an actress and a photographer.

For two years she did research on a project named »Projectionists of Iranian Cinema« in which she captured the process of the disappearance of a lot of movie theaters in Tehran and the transition from analog cinema to digital cinema, leading up to the unemployment of projectionists. The project resulted in a photo book and an audiovisual installation.

Her recent project is about sound objects which incorporate the physical materiality of hearing. Her work has been shown and performed in media festivals and exhibitions in Tehran, Athens and The Hague.

She also has worked as sound designer in a couple of theaters and is currently on an international festival tour for the theater »we can not talk about it«.

Sarvenaz Mostofey holds a master of music in art science from the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and a bachelor in photography from Tehran University of Art.
