Born in 1973 in Stuttgart.

Tina Hartmann studied German language and literature, comparative literature and art history in Tübingen and Canterbury/UK. From 1999 until 2002 she completed her doctorate degree on »Goethe’s Music Theater« that was awarded the dissertation prize of the University of Tübingen. She habilitated 2009 on the topic of »Das Libretto oder die Königin der Poesie« in Jena.

She works as a Academic Councilor for Literature at the University of Bayreuth. Furthermore she worked an works  as librettist for i.a. für Ludger Vollmer, Crusades, premiere in Freiburg (2015), Thomas Leininger Engelsschwingen und Eselsrücken, Basel (2014) sowie Dino und die Arche, Staatstheater Karlsruhe (2012), Fazil Say SIVAS (2012), Karola Obermüller und Peter Gilbert Dreimaldrei gleich unendlich, Akademie Schloss Solitude (2009), und Lucia Ronchetti Last Desire, Staatsoper Stuttgart (2003)/WA Staatsoper Berlin (2012). In addition she wrote full-lengh music theater versions as Kastraten, Gesang nach Messers Schneide for the Händel-Festspiele Halle (2008) and Alceste (Händel) for Theater Erlangen/Staatstheater Nürnberg (2007).

From 2004 until 2006, Hartmann was fellow at the Akademie Musiktheater heute of the Deutsche Bank Foundation.
