Voin de Voin lives and works in Sofia/Bulgaria. He holds a MA from the Academy of Theatre and Dance, Amsterdam/The Netherlands, and a diploma from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam; Goldsmiths, University of London/UK; and EICAR – École Internationale de Création Audiovisuelle et de Réalisation of Paris/France.
Since July 2016, Voin de Voin is running an independent art space in Sofia called ÆTHER. In 2018, together with the Dutch artist Marie Civikov he opened the sibling space Æther Haga in The Hague/The Netherlands. In 2017, he founded the Sofia Art Week.

 

Voin de Voin works in various fields of the visual arts, ranging from performance to installation, incorporating his research in collective rituals, psycho-geography, sociology, psychology, and new media.

He has also participated and shown in numerous international art institutions and events, such as: documenta 14 (off space), Athens/Greece (2017); Manifesta 11, Zurich/Switzerland (2016); 56th Venice Biennale (off program), Venice/Italy (2015); Melbourne International Art Festival, Melbourne/Australia (2009); Museum of Modern Art (MoMa), New York/USA (2007).

As a freelancer in the field of organization and curation he worked at: Nordic Biennale, DOMA Art Festival (2015), Sofia; Dutch Fashion Biennale Performance program, Arnhem and others/The Netherlands; and Sofia Art week.

Voin de Voin had received awards from the Mondrian Foundation for Visual Arts, Amsterdam (2008) and Das Arts Stichting for the Arts (2006–2008). Voin de Voin is represented by Sariev Contemporary in Plovidv since 2011.
