Weronika Trojańska

Born 1986 in Bydgoszcz/Poland.

Weronika Trojańska is an artist whose practice focuses on sound, somatics, and the politics of cultural anthropology. Through her work, she explores alternative modes of documentation and transmission of cultural knowledge, examining how this can be carried by sound as well as bodily practices, and function beyond the norms of common understanding and institutionalized ways of learning.

Her practice – frequently located at the intersection of collaborative performance and sound-based installation – addresses questions of authorship and connects individuals to broader social, historical, and ritual contexts. Trojańska regularly works with other artists or invites participants to actively co-create her projects, allowing collective presence, gestures, and voices to (re)shape the work.

She earned Master’s degrees in Art Criticism and Art Promotion from the University of the Arts in Poznań/Poland (2005–2010) and in Fine Arts from the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam/Netherlands (2013–2015). She also holds a PhD in Fine Arts and Art Conservation from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław/Poland (2025).

Her work has been presented at many institutions, including Kunstgewerbemuseum, Berlin/Germany (2024); and Pawilon, Poznań (2024); Port25, Mannheim/Germany (2021); MoMA – Museum of Modern Art, New York City/USA (2018); Emily Harvey Foundation, New York City, (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023) and Rongwrong, Amsterdam (2015), among others. In 2017, Trojańska performed Yoko Ono’s historical Cut Piece at the Museum der Moderne in Salzburg/Austria.

She is a recipient of the Artistic Scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland (2025), as well as international art residencies, including Q-O2, Brussels/Belgium( 2024), LES Studio Program, Artist Alliance Inc., New York City (2018), and Rupert, Vilnius/Lithuania (2015).

In addition to her artistic practice, Trojańska has published critical and reflective texts in journals and on platforms such as On Curating, Metropolis M, and Arterritory.
