Exhibition evening: Die Römer V – Sitting on a Cornflake

Date: Mar 8, 2008, 20:00 Uhr

Duration: Mar 8, 2008

Location: Projektraum Römerstraße 2A

Now, the fifth time fellows from the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg and the Akademie Schloss Solitude have been involved in an exchange, it’s all about performance. Both interdisciplinary institutions award fellowships to artists from fields varying from the visuals arts to new media, performing arts and music. These areas are closely connected to developments that emerged in the 1960s as performative shifts in art.

Since then, the fundamental elements of performances are space, time, the body of the protagonist and an audience. Parallel developments, convergence and cooperations are especially noticeable in dance and the visual arts. “The Romans V” exhibition evening places the focus on performative elements in the creations of young artists from both institutions. It also activates an examination of the overlaps as well as the divergences between the named disciplines.

With Begüm Erciyas, Patrycja German, Katalin Hausel, Min Kyong Lee, Martin Maurer, Tilman Rau, Donata Rigg, Daniel Salomon and Christian Ziegler.

The evening is curated by Maria Dis (Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg), and Antonia Lotz (Akademie Schloss Solitude), both fellows for art coordination.

Antonia Lotz (*1979 in Wuppertal) studied art history, philosophy and applied cultural sciences in Münster and Perugia. She has curatorial experience in institutions including the Landesmuseum Münster (2001), Galerie Alfonso Artiaco in Naples (2003) and the Westfälischen Kunstverein Münster (2004–2006). Lotz has been an art coordination fellow at the Akademie since 2006. Her fellowship is sponsored by the Kunststiftung NRW.

A cooperation with the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg.
