The exhibition concept “Misunderstanding Design” – developed by present designers in the Akademie – plumbs the boundaries of the design category. The fellows chosen in the design category found the allegedly comprehensive term unsatisfactory or incomplete in describing the breadth of their works. With the warehouse installation, which is presented in sober metal bookcases, the viewer now gets an overview and insight into the work of “design” fellows. Objects, images, Internet projects, installations, social projects, manipulated textiles, animations with video projections and more will be on view, arranged according to work methods. For the duration of the exhibition, the works will be exchanged and expanded upon, corresponding to the designers’ work processes. The works of Katya Bonnenfant, Ben Hooker, IAT, Sinisa Illic, Andrea Melloni, Claudia Stebler and Carolyn Steinbeck are included in the exhibition.
The exhibition runs from Saturday, February 11, to Sunday, March 26, 2005.
