The novel is about the intertwining paralyses of Howie Jeffries and Emily Phane. Howie is 50, lives a fugue-like existence, likes to fish, dreams of sailing away from himself on a boat. Emily is 25, irreverent, possibly half insane. She suffers from extreme sleep paralysis attacks: shortly after falling asleep she wakes up, cannot move, and feels as if she’s being buried alive inside her own body. Hopefully the reading won’t feel like that. But no guarantees. Tod Wodicka will answer ridiculous questions and talk about his experiences with sleep paralysis, DMT and who knows what else. He may or may not dance.
