Zsuzsa Selyem will read from her first volume of prose, 9 Kilos. Stories from Psalm 119, which evolved during her Solitude fellowship and were published this year in Hungarian by Koinonia Verlag, Klausenberg. The German translation appears this fall, published by merz&solitude.
Bálint Harcos will read from his 2002 poetry collection, Harcos Bálint Összes, (Collected Work by Harcos Bálit) as well as a selection of his latest work.
Zsuzsa Selyem (*1967 in Romania), works as a literary critic and writer. She lives in Kolozsvár/Cluj Napoca (Klausenburg), Romania and teaches literature at the Babes Bolyai University as well as the University Eötvös Loránd in Budapest. She has published several books, including one about Peter Esterházy and contemporary Hungarian literature. Selyem was an Akademie fellow in 2005.
Bálint Harcos (*1976 in Budapest, Hungary) was an editor for the literary journal Sárkányfü, publisher of series of publications by József Attila Kreis, as well as an editor for the Palatinus and Árkád publishing houses. His poetry has been published in numerous Hungarian magazines and books and his latest volume of prose, The Naïve Plant, will appear in fall 2006, published by Ulpius Verlag in Budapest. Bálint has been an Akademie fellow since September 2006.
The readings will be in Hungarian and German. Admission is free.
