The Vinca Quartet

Lauded by the press for its “stunning musicianship” (NYTimes) and “unforgettable performances” (Woodstock Times), the Vinca Quartet has won the hearts of both audiences and critics over the past few years. The group has made a name for itself with, for example, dynamic interpretations and a continually innovative program. The quartet has recently won internationally renowned prizes and has performed in concerts in such venues as Carnegie Hall (USA), Schloss Weikersheim (Germany) and Les Invalides (France). The members of the Vinca Quartet all studied as master students with well-known musicians or quartets, i.e Juilliard, the Cleveland, the Takacs and the Alban Berg Quartet. The group’s broad-reaching musical training as well as each individual’s interdisciplinary education has helped the quartet find its own signature musical expression. The name “Vinca” is derived from the Latin verb “vincere”, which means as much as “triumph” or “conquer” and is meant to underscore the group’s members’ untamable musical passion. The Vinca Quartet did a master class with the Vogler quartet in fall of 2010.
